“My cousin always wanted to go to Europe and for her birthday we were scheduling our trip when circumstances came up which prevented us from going.
I was disappointed because I had planned far ahead for this trip and it just wasn't going to happen. I still wanted to give her something sentimental, with a European twist, but I was all out of ideas.
I didn't have a lot of money to spend due to the circumstances, so I reached out to TGIF for some help. Tina gave me this great idea, and she actually took care of it from start to finish: She bought a jewelry (necklace) holder in the shape of the Eiffel Tower and a foot treatment set which fit perfectly into it. She wrapped it beautifully and attached a little poem that went something like this:
Although you didn’t make it to your desired destination, hopefully this treat will provide enough relaxation. May the thoughts of Paris be in your heart and in your mind, May your wait be short, may you join us in time.
“My grandpa is very special to me, and his 90th birthday was coming up. I didn't have a lot of time to plan because I have a very demanding job and a very busy home life.
My grandpa loves family and is the matriarch of ours. I knew this gift had to be special, and I had to hit a home run. I ran several ideas by my family members and none of them even left the dugout, to say the least. A friend told me about TGIF. I’d never heard of anything like this before, but I thought I would give it a try.
Tina gave me an idea that hit out of the park. It was simple, special, and it touched my grandpa's heart. She suggested that I get a picture of my grandpa, my dad, myself, and my son (four generations), and frame it in a nice frame. The frame needed to be big enough to put both the picture and a collage of words about my grandpa. Once the picture was framed it was to be wrapped in a nice box. Instead of ribbon around the box, it was wrapped with a tie (one that a guy will actually wear.)
On the box was a card that read something like this: The tie which binds this box is like the tie which bonds our family, Through thick and thin, you were the one to keep us from being enemies, We love you so much, words cannot express, Our gratitude and our appreciation, for you are the best!
It was perfect and I, and my grandpa, were speechless.”
